What is vodka made from?

Vodka is usually made from grains, potatoes, or other agricultural products plus water and yeast. Many vodkas also contain citric acid, sugar, glycerin, or other additives that don’t have to be listed on the label. These substances are often added to correct for off tastes and impurities resulting from an inferior distilling process. Distillers who don’t use additives will make that claim on their website, so it’s worth doing a little extra research to know what you’re drinking and putting into your body.
